Every probe is created here in the UK, from concept to quality check, ensuring reliable, long-lasting performance built to meet real-world demands.

Our designs are shaped by industry insight and the latest technology, making accurate temperature checks simple, convenient, and perfectly suited to even the most specialised applications.

Our facilities hold ISO 9001 and UKAS accreditation, globally recognised standards that guarantee the accuracy and consistency professionals depend on.

Thermocouple Probes

Fast-response probes for demanding applications.

  • Connectors available: Type T and Type K
  • Response time: As fast as 0.5 s
  • Temperature range: −100 °C to +1200 °C
  • Best for: Food production, catering, chilled storage, industrial ovens, kilns, HVAC, and manufacturing

Thermistor Probes

High-accuracy probes for everyday checks.

  • Typical range: −40 °C to +150 °C
  • Best for: Kitchens, food service, QA checks, laboratories, healthcare, environmental monitoring

PT100 Probes (RTD)

Precise and stable probes for critical applications.

  • Typical range: −100 °C to +200 °C
  • Best for: Pharmaceuticals, scientific research, calibration work, medical devices, industrial process control

Penetration & Immersion Probes

Designed to measure the internal temperature of foods, liquids, and semi-solids.

  • Best for: cooking, cooling, food production, HACCP checks, liquids, water testing and general process work.
Includes: fine-tip probes, heavy-duty probes, needle probes, frozen-food probes, waterproof/submersible probes, and immersion probes.

Surface Probes

Built to measure temperature on flat or curved surfaces.

  • Best for: grills, hotplates, machinery, pipes and equipment checks.
Includes: magnetic surface probes, high-temperature contact probes, ribbon probes and pipe-clamp probes.

Air / Gas Probes

Designed for ambient and airflow measurements.

  • Best for: HVAC, environmental monitoring, fridges, freezers and storage areas.
Includes: fast-response air probes, perforated probes and flexible wire probes.

Specialist Probes

Created for niche or high-precision applications.

  • Best for: ovens, sterilisation, packaging, scientific work and process control.
Includes: oven probes, high-temperature sensors, food simulant probes, wire probes and other application-specific designs.

Choosing the right probe is easier when you break it down into three simple steps.

1. Pick your sensor type

Start by deciding whether you need a thermocouple, thermistor, or PT100.

Think about:

  • Speed — how fast you need a reading
  • Accuracy — how tight your tolerances are
  • Temperature range — how hot or cold the application gets

2. Choose the probe style

Next, match the probe to what you’re measuring:

  • Penetration & immersion — for foods, liquids and internal temperatures
  • Surface — for hotplates, machinery, grills and pipes
  • Air / gas — for ambient and airflow checks

3. Select the specific model

Finally, fine-tune your choice based on the details of your setup.

Consider:

  • Cable type and length
  • Waterproofing or durability
  • Handle type and comfort
  • Response time
  • Mounting or attachment options (e.g., magnetic, clamp, wire, simulant)

Maintaining your probe ensures accurate readings and extends its lifespan.

Clean after every use
Wipe the probe clean before and after every use using a probe wipe.

Protect the cable
Never pull the probe out by the cable, trap it in doors, or wrap it tightly around the instrument — this can damage the internal wiring.

Store it safely
Keep the probe dry and stored in a protective case. Avoid leaving it in hot equipment, liquids or harsh environments longer than necessary.

Check for damage
Inspect the tip, cable and connector regularly. If you see splits, kinks or corrosion, replace the probe to maintain accuracy.

Calibrate when required
If you're using the probe for safety-critical or compliance checks, schedule regular calibration to ensure continued accuracy.

ETI probes carry a six-month guarantee against defects in either components or workmanship.
