Sustainability

Responsibility to Operate Sustainably

As a UK-based manufacturer, and the largest producer of digital thermometers in the country, Electronic Temperature Instruments (ETI) recognises its responsibility to operate sustainably and in support of the transition to a circular economy.

Committed to Cutting Carbon Emissions

ETI also exports globally and is therefore fully committed to cutting carbon emissions and improving environmental performance across a range of important metrics.

We believe that to achieve net zero in the UK, industries must invest in energy efficiency and responsible sourcing, working together with a wide range of stakeholders to decarbonise entire value chains.

ETI’s sustainability journey

The country is currently on a path to achieving net zero by 2050 and has also set out targets to reduce emissions by 78% by 2035.

To get there, the company has already introduced a series of measures and actions.

Looking ahead, we will be working with and encouraging our supplier network to adopt similarly ambitious targets within their own environmental policies. As a global company with a large supplier network, this is a vital next step on our sustainability journey.

ETI's Series of measures and actions already in place include:

  • Installing renewable energy on all three ETI sites or switching to renewable energy suppliers.
  • Reducing transport use through improved logistics and/or switching to electric vehicles.
  • Continued use of online conferencing facilities instead of travelling to meetings.
  • Designing products for reuse, repair and recycling.
  • Reusing production waste materials where appropriate.
  • Developing strategies for more sustainable product packaging.
  • Recycling redundant materials that can’t be reused.
  • Sourcing products and materials from companies with recognised net zero policies and commitments.
  • Separating and minimising waste for easier recycling and reuse.
  • Reducing paper records and expanding cloud storage.
Sustainability is something that we should all be working towards together. To curb emissions and limit global warming, all organisations will have to reimagine their existing business models and aim for sustainable growth. We are continuing to take a leadership position in this effort – and are encouraging our clients and peers to do the same.
