Responsibility to Operate Sustainably
As a UK-based manufacturer, and the largest producer of digital thermometers in the country, Electronic Temperature Instruments (ETI) recognises its responsibility to operate sustainably and in support of the transition to a circular economy.
Committed to Cutting Carbon Emissions
ETI also exports globally and is therefore fully committed to cutting carbon emissions and improving environmental performance across a range of important metrics.
We believe that to achieve net zero in the UK, industries must invest in energy efficiency and responsible sourcing, working together with a wide range of stakeholders to decarbonise entire value chains.
ETI’s sustainability journey
The country is currently on a path to achieving net zero by 2050 and has also set out targets to reduce emissions by 78% by 2035.
To get there, the company has already introduced a series of measures and actions.
Looking ahead, we will be working with and encouraging our supplier network to adopt similarly ambitious targets within their own environmental policies. As a global company with a large supplier network, this is a vital next step on our sustainability journey.
ETI's Series of measures and actions already in place include:
- Installing renewable energy on all three ETI sites or switching to renewable energy suppliers.
- Reducing transport use through improved logistics and/or switching to electric vehicles.
- Continued use of online conferencing facilities instead of travelling to meetings.
- Designing products for reuse, repair and recycling.
- Reusing production waste materials where appropriate.
- Developing strategies for more sustainable product packaging.
- Recycling redundant materials that can’t be reused.
- Sourcing products and materials from companies with recognised net zero policies and commitments.
- Separating and minimising waste for easier recycling and reuse.
- Reducing paper records and expanding cloud storage.
