Checking the accuracy of a thermometer involves measuring the temperature of a known, stable source, such as an ice bath, which should measure 0°C. This ensures you can accurately gauge the difference between your thermometer's reading and the actual temperature.
However, it can be tricky to ensure your ice bath stays precisely at 0°C during testing, often leading to inaccurate results.
