Medical thermometers

Contactless forehead thermometers and medical fridge/freezer thermometers for patient diagnosis and safe storage of temperature-critical solutions.

Medical thermometers

ETI’s medical thermometer range includes both forehead thermometers for contactless patient temperatures and specialised fridge/freezer thermometers for compliant vaccine and medicine storage.

The ETI forehead thermometer helps to detect fevers and diagnose conditions. It is CE 1639 approved for professional medical use. The ThermaGuard Pharm and ThermaData WiFi Pharm thermometers are high-accuracy, British-made devices for storing medical solutions at safe temperatures, preventing spoilage and maintaining efficacy.

Both are vital for patient safety and effective healthcare management.

ETI’s accurate medical thermometers

Infrared Forehead Thermometer

Detect fevers and diagnose patient conditions with the ETI infrared forehead thermometer. The device delivers accurate, oral-equivalent body temperature readings in one second and is CE 1639-approved for professional medical use.

ThermaGuard Pharm Vaccine Thermometer

A high-accuracy (±0.4 °C) digital fridge thermometer with audible alarms. The thermometer features glycol-encased probes that accurately reflect medical and pharmaceutical temperatures and a CalCheck 0.0 °C (±0.1 °C) function for verifying accuracy at any time.

ThermaData WiFi Pharm Thermometer

A wireless fridge freezer thermometer for remote pharmaceutical monitoring. Automatically monitors temperature-sensitive items and sends the readings to our free ThermaData Hub software. Get push notifications for high/low readings and take corrective actions more quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a medical thermometer used for?

Medical thermometers are used to measure body temperature to detect fever and illness. Medical fridge thermometers monitor the storage temperatures of vaccines, medicines, and other temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals. Using the correct thermometer helps support accurate diagnosis, patient safety and compliance.

Why should vaccines and medicines be stored within a specific temperature range?

Many vaccines, medicines and pharmaceutical products must be stored within strict temperature limits to maintain their safety and effectiveness. If temperatures fall outside the recommended range, products can lose potency or become unusable. A dedicated medical fridge or freezer thermometer helps ensure storage conditions remain compliant.

Read our guide to medication fridge temperatures to learn more.

What is the difference between a forehead thermometer and a standard infrared thermometer?

A medical forehead thermometer is specifically designed and calibrated to measure human body temperature accurately. Standard infrared thermometers measure surface temperatures and should not be used to take body temperature readings, as they are not designed or approved for clinical diagnosis.

Why do pharmaceutical thermometers use glycol bottle probes?

Glycol bottle probes respond to temperature changes in a similar way to the vaccines or medicines being stored, rather than reacting instantly to changes in air temperature. This provides a more representative reading of the product temperature and helps reduce false alarms caused by brief door openings.

How often should medical thermometers be checked or calibrated?

Medical thermometers should be checked regularly to ensure they continue to provide accurate readings. Calibration intervals depend on your quality procedures and regulatory requirements, but annual calibration is commonly recommended. Devices with built-in verification features, such as ETI's CalCheck function, also allow users to confirm accuracy between calibrations.

You can send your thermometers to ETI's UKAS-accredited laboratory for recalibration.
