Thermistor probes

Thermistor probes have high accuracy (up to ±0.2 °C) and are ideal for applications such as food processing and service, where precision is critical.

They typically come in immersion and air temperature models. Despite having a narrower temperature range than thermocouple probes, they are suitable for sub-zero temperatures (down to -40 °C) due to the PVC and fluoroethylene-propylene leads that they usually feature.

ETI has a range of thermistor sensors for different applications, but can also create bespoke options if you cannot find what you need.

What are the different types of thermistor probes?

Penetration

Perfect for measuring the internal temperature of liquids and semi-solids with high accuracy. Available in waterproof, fast response and colour-coded options to suit varying applications. Ideal for food safety, medical, and laboratory use where precision is essential.

Between-pack

Designed for checking the temperature of packaged goods, ensuring food safety during storage and transport. These probes slide easily between boxes or vacuum-sealed packs to provide accurate readings without opening the packaging.

Slow response

Dampened air and food simulant probes are designed to mimic product temperatures rather than react to rapid air fluctuations. Ideal for cold storage and food safety monitoring, they help maintain accurate temperature control.

Can thermistor probes measure very high temperatures?

Thermistor probes are best suited to low and medium temperature applications. For very high temperatures, a thermocouple probe is usually the better choice because it can withstand much higher operating temperatures.
