ETI Temperature Calibration Equipment

Temperature calibration equipment is essential for checking that thermometers are reading accurately. Regular verification helps ensure measurements can be trusted, supporting consistent processes and reliable results across your operations.

Calibration tools such as reference thermometers, dry block calibrators, and water baths provide controlled conditions for testing equipment. These solutions allow users to compare readings quickly and identify any drift, helping maintain accuracy over time.

Routine calibration is especially important in industries where temperature plays a critical role, including food production, healthcare, and industrial processes. Using the right equipment makes it easier to carry out checks in-house and stay aligned with quality and safety requirements.

ETI’s calibration range is designed to support a wide range of applications, offering dependable, easy-to-use solutions for both routine checks and more precise calibration needs.

Why Calibration is Key

Protects safety and compliance

Accurate readings keep food safe, processes controlled, and your business aligned with regulations.

Prevents costly mistakes

Avoid unnecessary waste or risky decisions caused by incorrect temperature readings.

Safeguards quality and reputation

Consistent accuracy means consistent results your customers can trust.

Keeps you audit-ready

Regular checks give you confidence (and proof) that your equipment is performing exactly as it should.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to calibrate thermometers and probes separately?

Yes, for thermometers with interchangeable probes, you must check both the instrument accuracy and the probe accuracy.

To check thermocouple instruments, use a MicroCal calibrator.

To check thermistor or PT100 instruments, use test caps.

To check probes, use an ice bath, a water bath, or a dry well, along with a reference thermometer.

How do I make an ice bath?

Fill a container with ice. Crushed is ideal, but cubes will work too.

Add cold water until it reaches 1cm below the top of the ice.
Stir the mixture and let it sit for 1-2 minutes.
Stir a reference thermometer through the mixture and measure the temperature.
Do the same using the thermometer or probe you’re testing.
Compare the results between the two thermometers.

How often should I calibrate my thermometers?

How often you check your thermometer accuracy depends on:

How often you use your thermometer, and what you use it for.
How precise you need your thermometer to be.
Industry standards and compliance requirements.

General advice for industries like food service is to check your thermometers at least once a month.

It’s recommended to send your thermometer to a laboratory for certification every 12 months. Keeping a calibration record is essential for demonstrating compliance with regulatory requirements.

When it’s time for certification, explore our Calibration Services or request a quote.

Do I need a calibration certificate?

A calibration certificate is not a legal requirement in the UK. However, having a recent certificate is useful for compliance audits and investigations, as it proves your instrument is accurate.

Read our guide to calibration certificates to learn more.

How do I recalibrate my thermometers and probes?

You can send your equipment to ETI’s UKAS calibration laboratory for accredited recalibration. We will return your instruments to you within their specified accuracy range and with a new calibration certificate.

I have many thermometers that I need to calibrate regularly. How do I do this quickly and accurately?

The quickest and most accurate way to calibrate probe thermometers is to use a dry-well or dry-block temperature calibrator.

These machines provide a stable temperature source, accurate between ±0.5 °C and ±1 °C. They take 5-10 minutes to reach temperature and are available in hot or cold models, depending on your calibration needs.
