Fast and reliable

With a response time of less than one second, this probe is ideal when you need quick, reliable surface temperature measurements. It is particularly useful for Legionella temperature monitoring and risk assessments, as well as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), maintenance and general industrial applications.

Waterproof protection

Its waterproof construction makes it suitable for use in damp environments, while flat ribbon technology provides a rapid response with minimal heat loss.

The probe features an 8 x 130 mm ribbon surface sensor and an MPK moulded plug for a secure connection. Available with either a straight or coiled lead to suit different applications.

Applications

This waterproof surface probe is suitable for a wide range of temperature measurement applications, including:

  • Legionella monitoring – measuring hot and cold water system temperatures as part of Legionella control programmes and risk assessments.
  • Hot water systems – checking temperatures at taps, pipes, tanks and other components.
  • HVAC – measuring pipe and equipment surface temperatures.
  • Heating systems – checking radiators, pipes and heated surfaces.
  • Industrial maintenance – monitoring the temperature of machinery, equipment and components.
  • Food and catering equipment – checking the temperature of hotplates, griddles and other heated surfaces.
  • General surface temperature measurement where a fast response and waterproof construction are required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a surface temperature probe used for?

A surface temperature probe measures the temperature of a solid surface. This probe is particularly useful for measuring pipes, tanks, radiators, machinery and heated surfaces.

Is the waterproof surface probe suitable for Legionella risk assessments?

Yes. The probe can be used to take surface temperature measurements as part of Legionella monitoring and risk assessment work. It can be particularly useful for checking the temperature of hot and cold water system components, pipes and other surfaces.

What does BS EN 60584-1:2013 mean?

BS EN 60584-1:2013 is the recognised standard specifying the thermoelectric characteristics and tolerances of thermocouples, including Type K. Conformance means the thermocouple characteristics meet the requirements specified by the standard.

What's the difference between straight and coiled probe leads?

A straight lead provides a fixed, conventional cable length, while a coiled lead offers greater flexibility and can help keep excess cable out of the way during use.

What surfaces can I measure with a waterproof surface probe?

A waterproof surface probe can be used on a wide variety of solid surfaces, including pipes, tanks, radiators, machinery, hotplates and other equipment. For the most accurate reading, ensure the sensing element has good contact with the surface being measured.
