All UK food businesses are legally required to manage food safety risks using HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) principles. One of these control points is ensuring tableware and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned.

As part of this, hot water in sinks and dishwashers needs to reach a high enough temperature to kill bacteria and viruses and effectively clean dirty dishes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the DishTemp Blue work?

It is a waterproof digital thermometer that is shaped like a small plate. You simply slide it into your commercial dishwasher rack alongside your normal tableware. During the wash, it tracks and records the exact surface temperature of the dishes to prove your machine is hot enough to kill harmful bacteria.

Is it a better option than using traditional thermal test strips?

Yes, it is a great alternative that will save your business money in the long run. Thermal test strips are a constant, ongoing cost because you have to throw them away after just one use. The DishTemp Blue is reusable with replacable CR2032 coin cell batteries.

How do I get the DishTemp temperature readings onto my phone?

The thermometer features built-in Bluetooth and pairs with the free ThermaData Hub software and app. When the wash cycle is finished, it wirelessly sends the maximum temperature reading to your Android device. It has a range of up to 6 metres, making your HACCP checks simple.

Will the DishTemp break under the high pressure of an industrial dishwasher?

The DishTemp Thermometer is built specifically for tough, busy kitchen environments. It features a rugged, watertight seal and carries an IP66 rating. This means it can easily handle the intense heat, steam, and powerful water jets inside a commercial machine without getting damaged and comes with a 1 year guarantee.

Can I show the results to an Environmental Health Officer (EHO)?

Yes, it is perfect for health and safety inspections. Every unit comes with a free traceable calibration certificate. This gives both you and your inspector complete proof that your equipment is highly accurate (to within ±0.5 °C) and that your digital records are trustworthy for HACCP compliance.
